AIR CONDITIONING IS IMPORTANT
In-door air quality is so essential to good health that our Government and Work Safe BC have legislated minimum Air Quality Standards for buildings and in the workplace. While air conditioning is usually optional for most homeowners, commercial and institutional facilities, to be compliant with strict Air Quality Standards, frequently need to augment their mechanical systems with air conditioning (and in some situations also need supplementary air filtration or air purification systems).
In addition to temperature regulation, Air Conditioning offers very effective control of in-door humidity levels. Heat and humidity levels that are either too low or too high directly impact human (or pet) health and wellbeing. Consistently very high or very low humidity levels can also lead to damage of a building's structural integrity or to contents including valuable equipment, furnishings, and collections.

PLEASE NOTE: It is important to keep in mind that a mechanical system's efficiency and performance can be compromised by inadequate design or poor workmanship. In addition to proper installation, proper sizing is crucial to a system's efficiency. An over-sized air conditioning unit will not remove humidity satisfactorily while an under-sized unit will not adequately lower temperature on hot days. |
