Hydronic Heating Systems are one of BGS Hunt Mechanical's specialties and we offer Commercial and Institutional clients a full range of services. From system design and installation to service and repair, we strive to offer sound professional advice, exceptional customer service, high-quality workmanship, and competitive pricing.

Considered to be one of the most cost-effective heating methods available, Hydronic "in-floor" radiant systems are the preferred choice for new construction and major renovations. By distributing heat uniformly throughout a space, in-floor radiant heating minimizes (if not eliminates) hot and cold spots that can plague larger or architecturally unique buildings. Hence, it is especially well-suited for architecture that incorporates high ceilings, large window expanses, or grand open spaces. Offering all the benefits of central heating, radiant in-floor heating offers outstanding flexibility in zone heat control while delivering exceptionally comfortable, clean and quiet heating.

The Pentiction, Summerland, Peachland, West Bank and Kelowna area is our core service area but we regularly accept commercial and institutional customers anywhere in the Central-South Okanagan corridor.

COMMON HYDRONIC SYSTEMS

  • Conventional baseboard, wall mount, or radiator heaters
  • Embedded slab (slab on grade) systems
  • Thin-Set embedded systems
  • Above or below subfloor tube and panel systems
  • Joist space (suspended) systems

SNOW & ICE MANAGEMENT (SIM)

Picture
Hydronic heating offers one of the most cost-effective and durable technologies for heating outdoor surfaces. It can be installed to keep parking lots, driveways, walkways, steps, ramps, patios, roofs and gutters free of ice and snow build up. And it is especially useful on steep grades where slip and fall accidents are a concern.

Installed on roofs and gutters, it eliminates snow accumulation that can lead to ice dams or the formation of large icicles. Safety and convenience are unsurpassed with Hydronic snow melt and de-icing systems as surfaces are consistently clear of ice and snow. It also virtually eliminates the need for environmentally unfriendly salt and chemical de-icers.

WHY HYDRONIC SYSTEMS?

  • Multi-zone heating offers excellent operating & cost efficiency
  • Remarkably comfortable, clean and quiet facility heating system
  • Year-over-year increasing direct costs for conventional SIM (insurance, labour, equipment, fuel, traction and de-icing materials) make Hydronic SIM a cost-effective option when long-term operating costs are accounted for.
  • Avoid "hidden" costs for maintenance and repairs (including repairs to parking lots, hardscaping, and landscaping) directly related to conventional SIM or for building damage caused by ice damming.
  • Safety concerns - slip and fall accidents, falling ice and snow
  • Liability concerns - SIM related accidents on your property can lead to costly insurance claims and expensive legal fees
  • Cost savings for facilities that require 24 hour accessibility

Hydronic hot water heating systems fired by very high-efficiency condensing boilers - and especially when combined with the recapture of building waste heat - offer a very cost-effective alternative for central heating or for snow and ice management.  Hydronic SIM also virtually eliminates the need for salt, sand, and de-icing chemicals making it an environmentally-friendly alternative. Our professional design work and exemplary workmanship will assure your system operates to the full performance capabilities your equipment is designed to deliver.

While initial capital costs can be higher than for other heating systems, the significant savings in long-term operating costs make Hydronic systems an increasingly attractive and sound investment for many businesses and organizations.

Installation and servicing of all mechanical systems must be done in strict compliance with Industry Codes and Government Regulations. Compliance is an important aspect of our industry and a professional responsibly we take very seriously so we continually strive to upgrade our industry training and knowledge.

Various factors influence which heating system would best suit your requirements. Steve Hunt, owner of BGS Hunt Mechanical would be pleased to meet with you to review your needs and discuss benefits, options and costs. We offer - free of charge - quotes and competitive pricing.
